Activator Methods® technique

Since the late 1980’s Dr. Newman has utilized the Activator Methods® technique.
It is one of the most popular “low force” chiropractic techniques in the world. We begin by analyzing how well your spine moves. We test all areas of your spine and skeletal system as well as soft tissues like muscles. While you’re lying face down, we’ll evaluate the length of your legs. This simple procedure can reveal significant differences in leg lengths. This time-tested protocol tells us if subluxations exist and their location. It also helps us know when to adjust and when not to adjust. The adjustment is then made with the Activator instrument or another instrument suited for your needs. Because it’s many times faster than adjustments delivered by hand, the body rarely tightens to resist, making adjustments comfortable and effective. It’s also helpful for adjusting elbows, wrists, knees and other joints of the body. Most patients leave our office feeling much better than when they came in!
Specific postural adjustments have also been very beneficial to our patients, as their problems may not” show up” or “reveal themselves” in this face down position. “Doc it only hurts when I’m sitting at my desk”. Therefore following the exam a patient may have to sit in a chair, stand or bend back and forth for the corrective adjustment.
Applied Kinesiology is a form of muscle testing we use to discover some of these hidden problems. Our patients like to call it the lie detector test. You can run but you can’t hide!
Dr. Newman likes to educate patients that health is a triad. There is the “structural” or physical. This is where the chiropractic treatment comes in. There is “chemical”, as in not getting proper nutrition or lacking essential nutrients or water. Then there is “emotional”, which we all know as stress, worry, anger, sadness, and on and on. You may relate with a boss or co-worker who is a literal “pain in your neck”.
These issues or causes of dis-ease may not reveal themselves all in the first visit and may present like layers of an onion. They may be chronic and ongoing or reoccur periodically. Therefore this treatment is not a magic pill and may take some longer than others to respond to. You can trust in Dr. Newman’s knowledge and honesty. If this treatment will not help your condition, she will refer you to the proper health care provider that will.
